Blue Tree launches 24 hour GPS Monitoring Service

Blue Tree Services are now providing telephone support to those people who do not have access to a computer but want to use a GPS location device.

The tracking device uses Geo Positioning Satellite signals that are sent to the unit every 8 seconds and can determine the position of the unit to within four metres.
This data is then sent to Blue Tree's control centre which monitors this information.

Blue Tree's monitoring service works in two ways. It will monitor the tracking device but will also provide this information to the designated authorised people.

Mike Smuts, Managing Director of Blue Tree Services, commented "The person carrying the unit has the reassurance of knowing that they only have to press a button to let Blue Tree know they are in trouble and we will call their chosen contact. Equally anyone worried about a person carrying a unit can call us and find out where they are."

You can become a real doll!

And you don't have to be a female for that. The thing is that a truly amazing thing is possible now: you can become your own action figurine - and your entire family can do so. It's a amazing and completely wonderful, so please make sure you put this on your "must do" list right now!

Artist Cyndi Safstrom creates look-alike dolls of everyday people from her studio in Vernon Hills. Cyndi sculpts faces from clients' photos, and then integrates the custom head into an 11" vinyl doll body. Dressed in the clothing of their choice, clients will receive a "mini me" of themselves or a loved one.

When Ms. Safstrom created an action figure of a fellow You Tuber for his birthday in 2007, she didn't expect it to turn into a new career. "I had lost my corporate job earlier in the year. Zipster08 put up a You Tube video showing off his doll, and the orders started coming in." Be A Doll was born.

YouTubers kept Cyndi busy making action figures for the first year. The majority of her business came from men wanting action figures of themselves. In early 2008 she created a website and opened her talents to the rest of the world.

Be A Doll has now shipped personal dolls/action figures all over the world, mainly as gifts for wives, husbands, parents, siblings, and friends. "I love doing something creative for a living and helping people express their love and appreciation for each other."

Photos of Cyndi's work can be viewed at the Be A Doll website. Instructions for ordering, type of photos required, customer reviews are found there as well.

Be A Doll creates 11" dolls of real people like YOU. Action figures for everyday heroes.

Here Is How to Make Your Car Safer

No matter how careful you are when you drive, the unexpected can happen. Whether you become stranded in a snowstorm or your car breaks down on a lonely road, you'll want to make sure that you have supplies to help you get through the time until help arrives.

Automobile Maintenance and Safety

Preventing your car from breaking down in the first place is, of course, the best defense. Routine maintenance will help keep your car safer and in working order. Items to look after include, but are not limited to:

Tires: A tire blowout or tread separation can cause a crash or, at the very least, render your vehicle undrivable. Make sure that your tires are correctly inflated. Use the proper tires for your vehicle and the driving conditions in your area.

General maintenance: Get your car's fluids checked periodically. These include transmission, power steering and brake fluids, and oil. Your blinkers, headlights and taillights, parking lights and windshield wipers should be in working order.

Windows and windshield: Do not leave clothes (such as dry-cleaning) hanging in your car window, as this will impede your view. Make sure that your windshield is free of cracks. Finally, in colder climates like Colorado's, clean the snow off your windshield and windows. This is a simple but important safety measure.

Items to Keep in Your Car

If your car does break down or get stuck, the supplies you keep in it could save your life. At all times, but especially during winter, the following items could be critical to your safety:

Food and water: Basic supplies like food and water are essential to have in your car. Granola bars, energy bars and trail mix are good options.

Toolkit: A toolkit containing items such as jumper cables, a flashlight with extra batteries (or a candle and method of lighting it), a few car-repair tools and a quart of oil may come in handy.

First-aid kit: Keep a simple first-aid kit that includes bandages, gauze, antiseptic cream and adhesive tape.

Cold-weather equipment: In snowy Colorado, if you have room in your vehicle, it is wise to carry a shovel, sand or ice-melt, and a blanket or other method of keeping warm.

Signals: You may not be able to stand outside your vehicle and flag down passing motorists. The weather may be against you, or it may be the middle of the night. Triangles and flares will alert other drivers to your presence and could prevent a crash.

Cell phone: A cell phone is a useful tool, but remember not to talk on it while you are driving.

Taking the initiative to keep up on your car's maintenance can prevent accidents and lower the risk of being stranded by a car breakdown. If you do become stranded, however, it does not have to be a harrowing experience when you have the right tools. In any case, preparing for the possibility can bring you peace of mind.

A New Diet to Help Children and Teenagers Appreciate Math and Science

It might sound unreal and incredible, but it might be true. In our family, our kids might actually get to love maths and science - and not in a dream!

The National Math and Science Initiative reports that only "29 percent of American fourth grade students, a third of eighth grade students, and barely 18 percent of 12th grade students perform at or above the proficient level in science." (http://www.nationalmathandscience.org/index.php/the-problem/the-problem.html) The National Academies reports an unacceptable level of performance for students, nationally, in math and science (http://www7.nationalacademies.org/Giving/Gordon_Ambach_Education_Presentation.html). Anecdotally, children and teenagers complain about having to learn math and science principles because of the lack of immediate application to their lives.

Also, America has a major childhood obesity epidemic with approximately 18% of 12-19 year olds being obese (it was 5% in 1980) (http://www.cdc.gov/nccdphp/dnpa/obesity/childhood/index.htm). The World Health Organization says the childhood obesity epidemic is a global phenomenon (http://www.who.int/dietphysicalactivity/publications/facts/obesity/en/).

A book published in May 2008 by Michael Dow, The Pen and Paper Diet, is based on the proven idea that the key to managing one's weight is using A Personal Daily Calorie Budget. By tracking calorie consumption using simple math in about 3 minutes a day, a person can consume the types of food and beverages he or she likes and manage their weight. Once a person develops the basic skill of a daily calorie budget, he or she can then focus on eating more healthy and exercising more. Michael used research from the National Academy of Sciences, USDA and CDC in his book.

"Although there has been limited research for estimated daily calorie requirements for children and teenagers," says Dow, "parents can consult with their family physician or contact a dietitian to determine a proper calorie budget. The issue is the human body needs an increasing amount of calories per day due to growth until about age 19. After that, when all primary variables involved with maintaining an ideal weight are controlled for (activity level and muscle mass), the human body begins a slow descent in required daily calorie consumption until death, sarcopenia (loss of muscle mass with aging) or other health disorder."

Dow bought a license to republish estimated calorie requirements by the National Academy of Sciences in his book. Until more thorough research is completed for children and teenagers, it may be best for overweight and obese children to consume about 300 less calories than their average daily consumption. Once they reach a stable weight or plateau and it is within an ideal BMI, they can then start increasing their calorie budget annually until age 19.

The Pen and Paper Diet provides a safe and cheap solution to address both the childhood obesity epidemic and academic decline of children in math and science. "Even kids need and want useful or immediately applicable information like adults in our information age," says Dow, "a calorie budget is a small step to meeting that need since it uses basic science and math. Maybe after an older child or teenager has been able to manage their weight using simple science, they be more interested in other science areas." ('If basic science can help me control my weight, what else would knowing more science ideas do for me.')

New Technology to Beat the Fitness Crunch

If families do not pay up they could be risking their own children's health. 9 Out of 10 children are predicted to grow up with dangerous amounts of fat in their bodies. Fat that can cause life-threatening diseases like cancer, type 2 diabetes and heart disease.

Busy modern lifestyles combined with the current economic climate have led to the Fitness Crunch, were families do not have the time or the money to be active enough. Technology, despite causing part of the lifestyle problem, is now rising to the challenge of the Fitness Crunch through exergaming company Gamercize.

Gamercize is a new kind of fitness technology that uses the power of video games to keep exercise interesting; by adding exercise to existing games. This week Gamercize has announced the new 3 in 1 GZ Family Fit home exercise machine that meets the required activity guidelines for everyone with convenience and fun.

The GZ Family Fit connects to a Nintendo Wii, PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 to keep your mind off the exercise effort as you play top video games. You have to keep moving to keep the game playing, stop and it will freeze you out until you start exercising again.

Not all members of the family play video games so the GZ Family Fit can be used for non-interactive traditional fitness too. With the combination of rowing and cycling functions, you can choose to read a book while comfortably cycling or watch the news with a rowing workout.

The GZ Family Fit easily folds away taking up less space than one stationary exercise bike and costs a fraction of the traditional route to active living with a price of just GBP699.90, available from http://www.gamercize.net.

Drug-Free Rehabilitation Programmes Are Best

Problems arise and even if they're painful and we would rather run away from them, it's better to deal with them and try to defeat them. Especially if the problems - drugs problems in our case - are connected with our loved ones.

"I tried methadone. I tried Subutex. I tried Valium. Neither solved my addiction and they were much harder to come off," says Michelle, a graduate of the Narconon Hastings programme. "I never bought into the message of 'learning to live with my addiction,' taking my daily substitute drug. I wanted to be off drugs. I wanted my life back so I could be a part of my family once again and be worthwhile and valued as a person to myself and others. Only a real, intensive residential programme, like Narconon, can help you achieve that."

Michelle is not the only person who feels this way. Even Professor Neil McKeganey, Director of Glasgow's Centre for Drug Misuse, was quoted recently describing the national trend towards drug substitution as "a shameful dereliction of our responsibility...we failed the majority of drug users by keeping them locked into addiction."

But residential drug rehabilitation is so much more expensive, some argue back. Really? A University of Glasgow study recently found a 7X better chance to be drug free 3 years after residential rehab than methadone. Many addicts who have enrolled with Narconon report that they did other illicit drugs at the same time they were doing methadone or other substitutes. The drug solves nothing between the ears, they say. It chemically blocks opiate cravings, but that is not the cause of the addiction - that's only the painful result.

It appears that in the last 15 months 15 out of 100 drug rehabilitation centres have closed in UK. This is because they were dependent on government subsidy. Those rehab centres that are supporting themselves charging fees for service are surviving, if with financial difficulty, because they are filling a real need.

Narconon Hastings, for example, is part of the international Narconon network which has produced over 27,000 drug-free graduates over the last decade. They have always set stably drug-free as their target objective - not living with your addiction, but freedom from. Recent post-programme monitoring of graduates by US Narconon centres, according to www.drugbulletin.org, reports that after a one-year follow up, better than 70% remained drug-free.

So there is good news. UK citizens and tax payers should ask for nothing less. Loved ones' lives and our communities' welfare are at stake.

Concerned Parents Launch Convenient Resource for Finding Top-Rated Daycare

If you're one of the parents looking for the best resources to keep their children safe and sound, there might be an answer!

While the concept of daycare information sites is not new, one web site recently launched by two innovative parents offers information and resources never before found through any other daycare research portal.

TopDaycareCenters.com was created by two parents who like many other parents, experienced difficulty and frustration when trying to find suitable daycare for their child. The site they developed is unique and inventive because it offers an abundance of comprehensive information that adheres to the needs of parents. That includes updated daycare listings , trusted content, and insightful ratings and reviews to support and assist busy, conscientious parents.

Daycare professionals also benefit from the site through greater exposure to parents who are actively seeking daycares in their area on search engines. They can upload images and provide extensive information about their daycare programs and encourage parents who use them to rate them on the site.

Features include, for example:

• A vast database that gives users instant access to details about daycare providers including current e-mail addresses, specific contact names, and daily hours of operation.

• Detailed information kept fresh, current, and trustworthy - and a user- friendly and lightening fast search engine tool conveniently located on the home page.

• Maps to daycare centers are automatically provided along with other pertinent search results.

• Parents can easily locate skilled and qualified daycare providers, and they can also proactively review daycare centers and daycare professionals who offer in-home daycare services.

• Read comments left by other parents who have hands-on experience with daycare centers, agencies, or individuals and contribute feedback in this interactive, easily navigated site.

Parents are busy. Most have full time jobs and can feel stressed as they try to devote the time and attention necessary to secure proper care for their children. They are even more aggravated by ineffective, unsuccessful searches for exceptional help, sufficient to match the important needs of their children. But now they have a free one-stop site that gives them everything they need and more, 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. Plus, it can all be accessed from the comfort of home or office through any internet connection.

About the personal injury thing

A personal injury refers to any physical or psychological damage caused by the negligence, recklessness or intention of another person or entity. A personal injury can devastate the victim physically, psychologically and financially. You may be able to file a personal injury lawsuit to recover damages.

Leading causes of personal injuries may include:
• Motor vehicle accidents
• Construction or job-related accidents
• Slips and falls
• Birth defects
• Nursing home abuse
• Defective products
• Prescription errors

Compensation for Losses
Personal injury can cause you to experience devastating financial losses such as:
• Medical/doctor bills
• Funeral expenses
• Loss of Salary
• Loss of ability to work
• Pain and suffering
• Mental anguish

In a personal injury case, determining who is responsible for the injury sustained is of paramount importance. The one at fault could be a person, a company or a defective product.
It is a daunting task to set a dollar amount on injuries you suffered in an accident. The amount varies depending on each case and its' circumstances. It is simple to add up money spent and money lost but how can one determine the cost of pain and suffering or missed experiences and lost opportunities in life? It is important to obtain help and information to assist you in dealing with the serious losses you have suffered because of the negligence of another.

If you live in the Orlando, Florida area and you or a loved one has suffered a personal injury, please visit the website of The Law Offices of Michael Barszcz, M.D., J.D. today and learn more about your legal rights and whether you are entitled to compensation.
